Young Birders Club

The Monterey Audubon Young Birders Club (YBC) is a fun and welcoming community for young birders. All trips are free, although we suggest a one-time $20 donation (basically a MAS membership) to help keep this and our other conservation programs going.

This club is open to all kids and young adults, 1st-12th grade, of all levels of birding interest and knowledge. If you’ve never been birding before, great! If you’re already a bird nerd, great!

  • The Young Birders Club is a welcoming community for all abilities, backgrounds, and identities. If you identify as a BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+, this space is for you! If you need any accommodations in order to fully participate, just let us know by emailing montereyaudubon@gmail.com.

  • We ask that 1st-5th graders are accompanied by a chaperone. Young Birders in the 6th-12th grade age range may attend unchaperoned as long as they have registered.

  • Make sure you bring:

    • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) and warm layers - it can be cold and foggy or warm and sunny, so plan for all weather!

    • Snacks and water

If you have binoculars, bring them! If you don’t, no problem - just check the box that you would like to borrow binoculars in the registration form.
