About the event
Be ready for sand and shorebirds! We’ll see numerous shorebirds and other waterbirds as we walk along the sandy shoreline. Responsible and helpful parents from our last Del Monte Beach field trip inspired us to make this a joint bird watching and beach cleanup activity. Trash grabbers, a few buckets, bags, and gloves will be available for use. All levels of interest in birds are welcome!
Time and meeting: Meet at the volleyball court near the primary beach parking lot, located HERE. 2:30 PM start time, but Amanda will be there by 2:15 PM.
Parking: For free parking, you can park across Del Monte Ave in the designated parking spaces around El Estero Park. Alternatively, you can pay for parking at the lot right at the beach, near the kayak store. The lot is called Monterey Bay Park (MB7) and it costs $1.50/hour.
Due to the time of day of this activity and the popularity of the location, parking might be tough! Give yourself adequate time.
What to bring: Sunscreen, hat, water, layers. Snacks and water are recommended if you get hungry fast! If you have any equipment or gloves to wear for picking up trash, bring those too. If you'd like to borrow binoculars, please indicate how many during the registration process.
If you have to cancel after having signed up, please email Amanda at montereyaudubon@gmail.com to let us know!
