About the event
It's Seawatch season! The Monterey Audubon Society Young Birders Club will get a chance to see what the seawatchers are seeing out at sea.... Trip leaders will provide an overview of the Point Pinos Seawatch effort and learn (and hopefully see!) the amazing seabirds that the project is focusing on. We'll take time to also search the rocky coastline for shorebirds and check out Crespi Pond near the golf course for other species. All levels of interest in birds and nature are welcome.
Potential species include Surf Scoter, loons, cormorants, pelicans, gulls, and various shorebirds! Geese, grebes, and ducks are likely in the nearby pond.
Time and meeting: Meet at the gravel parking lot at the corner of Asilomar Ave and Ocean View Blvd. located HERE.
Parking: free parking is found in the gravel lots along the ocean side of Ocean View Blvd. The closest parking lot to the meeting spot it labelled "5 Crespi Pond" on the green city sign. It's at the intersection of Asilomar Ave and Ocean View Blvd.
What to bring: Sunscreen, hat, water, layers. Snacks and water are recommended if you get hungry fast! If you'd like to borrow binoculars, please indicate how many during the registration process. Dress warm as it's usually really cold and windy at the Point!
If you have to cancel after having signed up, please email Amanda at amanda.preece@montereyaudubon.org to let us know!
