About the Event:
Looking for coastal and seabirds? Join us at Point Pinos and the rocky shores of Asilomar Beach in Pacific Grove! This is a great spot to look for coastside birds like Black Turnstones, Surfbirds, Ruddy Turnstones, Black Oystercatchers among others. We'll look for a variety of gulls and cormorants and might also spot sea otters or harbor seals in the ocean.
Depending on recent sightings and if timing allows, we may bird in a nearby hotspot to look for any fall migrants or vagrants.
Meet: Point Pinos Seawatch, located along the coastal trail at the Foghorn parking lot on Ocean View Blvd (coordinates: 36.637036, -121.935724). Look for spotting scopes!
Trip Difficulty: Easy. Parking lot has one ADA-accessible spot. The terrain is sandy gravel with some erosion and potholes.
Facilities: There is a public restroom a 2-minute walk away near Crespi Pond.
