About the event
Description: Join us for a Queer Birding field trip in partnership with Monterey Peninsula Pride!
Whether you're intrigued by the wintering gulls of Monterey or the plethora of shorebirds that can be seen along the coast, this trip is for birders of all experience levels. We’ll spend the morning honing our identification skills, learning about local and migratory residents, and enjoying the unique beauty of the Moss Landing area.
Meet: 9:00 am at the parking lot at the end of Jetty Road, near Moss Landing, here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/p2nXNCR8a8eQNhFp6
Trip Logistics: Any walking will be along flat paved or smooth dirt roads. Hard rain cancels.
Facilities: There is a primitive porta-potty at the Jetty Road parking lot.
Trip Difficulty: Over the course of the morning, most birding will be from near the cars or less than a quarter mile away. It may be cold in the morning, but it will hopefully warm up later on. Any walking will be over flat paved or well-graded dirt roads. Bring sunscreen, hats, water, snacks, and everything you may need for the morning.
Trip Leader: This trip will be led by Kai Russell, MAS Board Member, along with Alex & Morgan, MAS volunteers
Questions and RSVP: For general questions, email montereyaudubon@gmail.com.
Bring binoculars, or borrow ours! Either way, this trip will be a good time.
