Select Carmel River State Beach

Description: Join the thousands of people who come to the California coast each September to remove trash from our beaches. We're hosting our event at Carmel River State Beach, an easy-access location where the river joins the ocean. Why this location? Trash from the river can end up in the ocean, causing fish and birds to choke on it. Plus, who wants to look at cigarette butts and plastic wrappers when you're birding and enjoying nature? All supplies are provided for this family-friendly event. Be sure to stay afterwards to enjoy viewing wildlife.

Logistics: Meet at Carmel River State Beach parking lot. Overflow parking is along the street in the neighborhood. Look for the Monterey Audubon Society tent to check in and receive your tools. All tools will be provided.

Bathrooms are onsite in the parking lot.

Other: Bring a hat, sandals, a snack, sunscreen, and water. Optional: if you prefer your own gloves and trash bag, bring them, especially child-sized gloves.

Data Collection: We'll be collecting information about what we collect. Please download the Clean Swell app to document the trash you collect. This information is used learn about global trash while you can immediately see your impact.
