About the event
The Municipal Wharf provides an excellent place to see many species of waterbirds. We can expect to see Pelagic and Brandt's Cormorants, Buffleheads, Common Loons, Common Goldeneyes, Eared and Horned Grebes, Western Gulls, and Surf Scoters. We may also see more uncommon species like Red-necked Grebe, Common Murre, or Pacific and Red-throated Loons. This peaceful and birdy location is perfect for a relaxed day of observation, learning, and connection.
Trip Difficulty: We will mostly walk up and down the wharf. Walking along the beach may be an option if the group is interested.
What to wear: It's always best to dress in layers for optimal comfort, but the wharf is typically sunny.
Trip Leader: Monterey Audubon Society Board Member Kyan Russell and Andrew Vernon
Meet: At the base of the Municipal Wharf near the bathrooms. Paid parking is available in the harbor, and free parking is a short walk away outside the baseball field here.
Facilities: There are bathrooms at the base of the wharf.
Questions and RSVP: For general questions email info@MontereyAudubon.org.
Bring Binoculars and an interest in learning. No binoculars? No Problem, just indicate how many are needed when you RSVP.
