About the event
Description: Let's go birding! Lake El Estero, the horse-shore shaped lake in Monterey, is home to a suite of birds (eBird has it at 255 species reported) plus it has low-intensity trails, benches, and picnic tables. We will move at a slow pace along the trail around the lake, with lots of stops as needed. Loads of swallows are present in the summer, plus bathing gulls and ducks of all sorts. Join us for a day of exploration! If you'd like to borrow binoculars, please check the box in the registration form and we'll bring them for you. All levels of birder welcome including beginners.
Safety first - this will be a masks required field trip.
Meeting location: Meet at the parking lot for the Dennis the Menace kids park. ADA accessible bathrooms are available at this location. Parking is free and there is overflow parking across the road.
Field trip leader: Morgan Lewis, of Ripple in the Wild
