About the event

Description: Join us at Natividad Creek for a Birdability outing on March 1st, 2026! This city park is well-loved by many local users, with soccer fields, community gardens, picnic areas, and playground equipment. The park's paved trail system offers easy access to the wild vegetation of Natividad Creek, which is a popular spot for local birds.

Meet: We’ll meet at the main parking area off of Nogal Road in Salinas, located HERE. There are multiple handicapped parking spots in the lot.

Trip Logistics: Birdability outings are appropriate for beginners and experts alike! We’ll move at a slower pace to better hear and observe the birds and wildlife at the park. Bring a small chair if you like to sit and listen, which we will make sure to do.

Facilities:  There is a wheelchair accessible bathroom at the parking lot and drinking fountains.

Trip Difficulty: We will travel about 0.5 miles in total while exploring the park. The trails are all paved and at a low grade. There are benches and picnic tables throughout the park. We’ll proceed at a slow and steady pace and take frequent stops to sit and listen and wait for the birds to appear.

Trip Leader: This trip will be led by Alex- MAS volunteer, Bev - Birdability Captain, and Leo from Monterey Waterkeeper
