Join us for a cozy morning birding from the deck of Phoebe's Cafe (Hearst Social Hall) at Asilomar. This "Bird Sit" modeled after The Big Sit will be a fun and casual, noncompetitive group birding activity. Warm drinks and snacks are available for purchase at Phoebe's Cafe. 

Let's get cozy and see how many different species of bird we can spot! We'll be on the lookout for a variety of woodpeckers (Acorn Woodpeckers, Nuttall's, Downy and Hairy all spotted at this location). Red-shouldered Hawks, White-tailed Kites, Pygmy Nuthatches and songbirds of all kinds are just a few of the many other birds that are found here. If you're feeling the need for a stroll, Asilomar offers many flat pathways through forest and dune habitats that you're welcome to explore and report back to the group!

This is an accessible, inclusive outing for people with disabilities of all kinds. Parking and access info:

You may park anywhere on the Asilomar Conference Grounds for free as long as you're in a designated parking space. The closest parking is Lot F: take a right at the fork as you enter the Conference Grounds. Two disabled parking spots are available directly adjacent to the Social Hall/Guest Check-In building. We will meet on the west-side deck outside Phoebe's Cafe/Hearst Social Hall. For street level/ramp access, enter from the East or South side of the building by the disabled parking spaces. Stair access on the West side of the building. There is an ADA accessible restroom inside the Social Hall. Deck chairs are available for sitting on a first-come basis. Feel free to bring a blanket to make it extra cozy! A hat is recommended even on overcast days, and make sure to dress in layers for those foggy Pacific Grove mornings.
