Garland Ranch Regional Park  (P, IC, R)

This large inland park along the Carmel River features riparian willow thickets, lowland sycamores, live oak woodlands, and upland chaparral. 

Location:  From the Highway 1 junction in Carmel take Carmel Valley Rd. 9 mi. east to a large dirt parking area on the right adjacent to the roadway.  Cross the river via a footbridge to the visitor center.

Highlights:  Hutton’s vireo, acorn woodpecker, Nuttall’s woodpecker, yellow warbler, orange-crowned warbler, lazuli bunting, and other breeding songbirds.

Best season:  spring-summer.
